Jamie Schler is an author, baker, jam maker and hotelier living in Chinon, France. In this conversation, we talk about how kitchen life kept us both sane these past few years, and she explains what it's like running a 17th Century hotel during a 21st Century plague. Oh, and she also reveals her secret association with the Project Mercury spaceflight program.

Followed Lifesafeast on FB a few weeks ago. My grandparents were all from Italy, Dennis, Napoli and Gaeta on my mom’s side, Gioia del Colle near Bari, on my dad’s side. Haven’t been to Abruzzo, but you have to get there. Been to Italy many times though. ❤️ can’t wait to see my family there again, and in Germany.

I enjoyed listening and happy to hear Jamie will have her own podcast. I love Orange Appeal, especially during my snowbird days in Arizona where citrus is plentiful (though oranges suffered this year because of intense heat last summer). Cooking has really saved me during the pandemic and I especially love baking. Jamie’s mention of coconut jam, oh yum. I make lots of grapefruit and orange marmalade, lots of lemon curd, then give almost all away to my friends and neighbors.

Jamie on a podcast is the next best thing beyond reading her witty, smart, and funny Twitter thoughtlings or deciding which recipe from Orange Appeal to cook next. She brightened my 2020 year of isolation. And I now make a mean tart crust. I can't wait to listen to her podcast!
